Which Android Phones Support eSIM in 2026?
Android eSIM support looks simple until you compare the same phone sold in different countries. A Galaxy, Pixel, Xiaomi, or OnePlus model can have eSIM on one variant and miss it on another. This guide breaks down supported Android phones, regional restrictions, carrier limitations, and the quick checks that confirm if your device is ready for eSIM.

A Galaxy A54 bought in Dubai and a Galaxy A54 bought in Berlin are the same phone with the same box and the same firmware version. Only one of them has eSIM.
That is the whole problem with Android compatibility lists, and it is why most of them are wrong.
The short answer: almost every global-variant Android flagship from 2020 onward supports eSIM. Samsung from the Galaxy S20, Pixel from the Pixel 4, Oppo, Vivo, Honor, Xiaomi, Motorola and Sony across their flagship lines.
The exceptions are China-market models, some mid-range phones, and a handful of regions where the same model ships without the chip.
Four things have to line up
A model name never settles this. eSIM works when all four of these are true:
Same phone model, different results — because hardware, firmware, carrier support, and lock status all decide eSIM availability.
Samsung says the quiet part out loud on its own support pages: depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed.
Every brand below has the same caveat. Samsung is just the one that prints it.
Samsung eSIM support
Samsung has fitted eSIM to its flagship line since the Galaxy S20 in 2020.

Three things to watch.
An A54 sold in Europe, North America, Korea or Japan has eSIM. The same phone sold anywhere else does not. This catches more travellers than any other single line in this guide.
Samsung’s Hong Kong list covers only the S26 family and the newest folds. No S25, no S24, no S23, no A series at all. Treat any Samsung bought in Greater China as having no eSIM until proven otherwise.

Pixel eSIM support
The cleanest line in Android. Pixel 4 and later, everything works. Pixel 3 and 3a need the fine print.

The Chinese brands, and the split that defines them
Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and Honor all build two versions of the same phone. The international one has eSIM. The China one does not.
Vivo makes it clearest. The X300 Pro ships as nano-SIM plus nano-SIM plus eSIM internationally, and as plain dual nano-SIM in China. Same name, different silicon. The X200, X200 Pro, X100 Pro, X90 Pro, X80 Pro and V40 all follow the pattern.
Oppo confirms eSIM on the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro directly, and it runs back through the Find X8, X5 and X3 families, the Find N3 and N3 Flip foldables, and the Reno line from the Reno6 Pro forward.
Honor covers the Magic8 Pro, the Magic7 range, Magic6 Pro, Magic5 Pro, Magic4 Pro, the Magic V foldables and the numbered 200 to 600 series. The Magic8 Pro spec sheet spells the split out: eSIM on international, none on China.
Xiaomi eSIM support is the one to be careful with, because two things have to be right rather than one. The chip is fitted to global hardware only, and the modem firmware region has to be Global, EEA or Russia.
India-market Xiaomi is excluded. Worse, a global phone flashed with Chinese firmware loses eSIM entirely until the global modem image goes back on. Covered models include the 15 Ultra, 15, 15 Pro, 15T Pro, 14 series, 13 series, 12T Pro and the Redmi Note 13 and 14 Pro variants.
Mainland China approved eSIM for smartphones in October 2025 and all three national carriers now offer it, so newer China-market models are starting to gain the hardware. Two catches remain.
Activation needs in-person identity checks at a carrier store, and foreign travel eSIMs still do not work on Chinese-market handsets.
Which Android Phones Support eSIM? Other Brands You Should Know
OnePlus arrived late. The first OnePlus with eSIM was the OnePlus Open in October 2023, and even that needed a November 2023 update before it worked in India. The 12, 13, 13R and 15 all have it, but every one ships in two configurations and only one of them includes eSIM. With OnePlus, the SKU decides, not the model.
Motorola reaches further down the price range than anyone. Razr foldables have had eSIM since 2019. The Edge line carries it. So does the Moto G series, which is unusual, and the Japan-market G52J, G53J and g37j variants are all covered.
Sony added it from the fourth-generation Xperias: the Xperia 1 IV, 1 V, 1 VI and 1 VII, the 5 IV and 5 V, the 10 III Lite through 10 VI, and the Ace III.
Nothing has the sharpest split of all. The Phone (3) supports eSIM everywhere. The Phone (3a) supports it only in versions sold in Japan.
Huawei is narrow and largely frozen. The P40, P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro and Pura 70 Pro carry it. No Huawei has ever shipped as eSIM only.
Asus names exactly three phones: the ROG Phone 9, ROG Phone 9 Pro and Zenfone 12 Ultra.
Fairphone is the cleanest brand here. Fairphone 4 and later, no regional exceptions at all.
Two countries where the phone is fine and the purchase is not
Turkey blocks the websites and apps of travel eSIM providers, so buying one while standing in Istanbul will not work.
A profile bought and installed before arrival works normally. Buy at home.
India removed several travel eSIM apps from its app stores in January 2024 over licensing.
Domestic eSIM works fine, with Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea all issuing profiles. Again, buy before you fly.

If the Add eSIM option is there, the phone is eSIM compatible, all four conditions are met, and you are done.
The dial code is the tie-breaker. *#06# shows your IMEI and, on an eSIM-equipped handset, a 32-digit EID. An EID proves the chip is fitted. It proves nothing else. A Xiaomi running Chinese firmware will show an EID and still refuse to install anything. Some phones with eSIM show no EID at all.
And whatever the menu says, a carrier-locked handset will reject a third-party profile regardless. That is the single most common reason a phone on every compatibility list still fails at activation.

Frequently asked questions
What Android version do I need for eSIM?
Android 9 is the floor, because that is when the eSIM management APIs arrived. Android 10 added support for holding multiple profiles. But the version is never enough on its own. A brand new phone on Android 16 with no eUICC chip has no eSIM, and no update will ever give it one.
Can I add eSIM to an Android phone that does not have it?
No. The chip is soldered to the board during manufacture, and there is no software route, no app and no accessory that adds it. Anything claiming otherwise is selling something. The nearest workaround is a separate pocket router with its own eSIM, which some travellers carry for exactly this reason.
Why does my Android have an EID but no eSIM menu?
Because the hardware is there and the firmware is not showing it. This is most common on Xiaomi devices running a firmware region that does not enable the feature, and on phones imported from a market where the manufacturer disables it. A carrier lock produces the same symptom. None of the three can be fixed from the phone’s settings.
How many eSIM profiles can an Android phone hold?
Most modern Android phones store several profiles and run one or two at a time. Pixel 7 and later can run two eSIM profiles simultaneously, which is genuinely useful for keeping a home number live while a travel plan carries the data. Storage capacity and active capacity are different numbers, and the active one is the one that matters day to day.
Do Android tablets support eSIM?
Cellular models often do, WiFi-only models never do. Samsung’s Tab S9, S10 and S11 families include it on the cellular versions, as do the FE variants. If the tablet has no SIM tray and no mobile data option in settings, it is a WiFi model and no eSIM will install on it.
Will a travel eSIM work on a phone bought in China?
Not on a Chinese-market handset. Even after China opened up domestic eSIM in late 2025, foreign travel eSIMs remain unavailable on those devices, and older China SKUs have no eSIM chip at all. Anyone travelling with a phone bought in mainland China should plan on a physical local SIM or a pocket router instead.
