Unlimited Data eSIM Plans: What They Really Cost

“Unlimited” almost never means unlimited at full speed. Nearly every unlimited travel eSIM has a fair-use threshold — a daily or total amount after which your speed drops, sometimes to a level where maps and messaging still work but video does not. The plans below are the unlimited plans we currently track, priced live from our database.

Before you buy an unlimited plan

  • Find the fair-use number. If a provider does not publish one anywhere, that is a warning sign, not generosity — you find out where the limit is at the worst possible moment.
  • Check the throttled speed. Being dropped to 1 Mbps is usable for maps and chat. Being dropped to 128 kbps effectively ends your data for the day.
  • Check hotspot rules. Tethering is often capped separately, or excluded from unlimited entirely.
  • Do the maths against a fixed plan. For trips under a week, a 5–10 GB fixed plan is frequently cheaper than unlimited, and most travellers never reach the cap.

Not sure how much data you actually need? The planner below estimates it from your trip length and how you use your phone.
