Not sure whether to buy 1 GB or 10 GB for your trip? Our free eSIM Data Planner does the maths for you. Tell it where you are going, how long you will be there and the kind of traveller you are, and it recommends exactly how much data to buy — so you never overpay for gigabytes you will not use, or run out halfway through the trip.
Trip Data Planner
Answer three quick questions and we’ll tell you exactly how much eSIM data to buy — no more guessing or overpaying.
How the eSIM Data Planner works
The tool estimates your daily data use from real-world averages. A “light” traveller (maps, messaging, the odd email) uses roughly 0.4 GB a day; a “medium” traveller who scrolls social media and browses uses about 1 GB; a “heavy” user who streams music and video needs around 2 GB; and remote workers who take video calls and tether a laptop can burn through 3–4 GB a day. Multiply that by your trip length and you have your target — we add a small buffer so you are never caught short.
Why plan your data before you travel?
- Stop overpaying. Buying a giant “unlimited” plan for a 3-day city break is money wasted — a right-sized plan is far cheaper.
- Never run out abroad. Topping up in a panic at the airport is expensive and stressful.
- Compare fairly. Once you know your GB target, comparing providers on price-per-GB becomes simple.
What to do next
Once the planner gives you a recommended amount, use the “See plans” button to jump straight to the best-value eSIMs for your destination, sorted by price per GB. Pair it with our Roaming vs eSIM Savings Calculator to see just how much you are saving versus your home carrier.
