Two things have to be true before any travel eSIM will work: your phone must support eSIM, and it must be carrier-unlocked. Find your model below.

Check it on the phone itself
The quickest confirmation comes from the device, not from a list:
- iPhone: Settings → General → About. If you see “Available SIM” or an EID number, the phone supports eSIM.
- Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs, and look for an option to add an eSIM or download a SIM. On Samsung it is Settings → Connections → SIM manager.
- Dial check: on most phones, dialling
*#06#shows your IMEI. If an EID appears alongside it, the phone has an eSIM.
Carrier lock matters too
A phone bought outright is normally unlocked. A phone still on a carrier contract often is not, and a locked phone will reject a travel eSIM even when the hardware supports it. Ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel — it is usually free once the contract is paid off, but it can take a day or two to take effect.
